1. what if i cannot survive.
2. what if i run out of money.

such questions usually surface when you are about to tender your resignation.

so anyways.. i'm glad i'm past that stage.

Just finished organising a BBQ + Chalet party for my family and friends.

I Am Leaving The Country Again.

Anyways same country but just different climate this time round.

Haven been bothered to sit and update anything in this blog due to the lack of time on hand to actually pen anything significant.

Most people who know me already talked to me on MSN.

but ! that will change.

this new blogspot layout stuff is making everything so hard to manevoure and edit / post.

nothing much really happened.

From sept to now.... i dun really recall much.

Congrats to my friend WDW who landed a new job!

Did a house warming inbetween also!

Went to universal studios singapore (boring!).

attended some property agent courses to prep myself.

finished the required industry courses and exams too!

Instead of trying to remember what i've done.... maybe i can talk about what i am going to do.

Cant really remember if this is before or after tinting....

well.... low floor unit... not much of a 'VIEW' to boast.

about the grilles.... this design is actually very firm... but these panels are too small for this design.

makes it look awfully cramp.

my Service yard ones are much wider....

which IMO feels nicer when its a wider piece... YMMV (if you're a grilles person to begin with...).

What Irks Me.

lately there are alot of election news.

then comes all the issues regarding living in singapore.

namely, housing prices, necessities prices, GST, transport cost....

all these are linked to what we called... 'inflation'.

its not a new phenomenon really.... its just a simple concept.... in a nutshell, $1 cannot buy $1 worth anymore.

what irks me lately is the the group of acquaintances around me....

there is a small group of individuals who feel that people who feel that everything is getting expensive and not affordable are 'stupid'.

lemme quote the guy.

"i can't understand why some stupid singaporean can link whatever price increase to the misdeeds of the govt. stop acting like a child. if u feel prices are high and your income is not catching up, WORK HARDER! blame yourself of missing the good economy and not the other way round!"

seriously, is it because you're well-educated and earning better money that other poorer people.... thats why you can call other lesser-well-off folks 'stupid singaporeans' ???

well... i've been away. so i'm back.

the lack of constant connection to the internet has left my blog dry of posts and updates.

pardon me... i'm running a mobile broadband line at home at the moment due to the lack of space.. shant elaborate.

5 months passed in 2011. time flies when you're not keeping track of it.

this blog has also been alive for like 3 years? nah i dun really remember how old. just about there la.

alot of things are happening to me in 2011.

1. i moved out and formed a family and home of my own (although interim property at the moment. THE FUTURE WILL BE BETTER!).

2. i am finally collecting my new flat keys in say 1 week from now. (gawd my son is hitting 4 years old liao lor!).

3. i am being relocated at work. (physical office and job scope).

of all, most disliked so far is point 3.

it sucks to be relocated at work physically... "okie... change office guys..."

it sucks to the core if you have a change of job scope totally WITHOUT any form of warning or heads-up.

i mean.... you're a blardy manager.... you mean you guys dunno how to forecast ahead the headcount cuts and make the transition smoother??

granted this is BEYOND YOU..... the basic thing a MANAGER needs to do (i thought this is only right) is to at least brief the guy involved in all these.

1. why are you moving.
2. what is the reason?
3. where are you moving to.
4. by when will you move.
5. any other further consoling talk necessary.

i am a grown up adult yes. but what the company did to me is like giving me a bitchslap with a trout.

not really sure is that the date i'm getting the keys or is it the date the construction ends and hdb will then take another month or so to pass me the keys.

whatever the case, its time to start hunting for reno firms and reno ideas.

~~its regarding the myth that... 'HDB will wipe all your CPF OA Account upon the purchase of your flat".~~

I'm Not Suitable For Shift Work.

while night shifts are generally easy to work on... theres literally no work. no volume. nothing.

for my work, i get nothing at work.

1. no desk.

2. no laptop.

3. no communications. (e.g. no internet, no land line)

4. no tv.

5. no pantry.

6. nobodys around me.

7. no resting area.

theres just too many NOs.

what do i get at work on a night shift then?

1. i get chilly winds.

2. i get a chair... hard like hell. impossible to doze off on.

3. i get some mosquitos.

4. i get some time to be with myself... (this sounds stupid).

oh well... such is my job.

i hate 12 hour night shifts to the bloody core.

i can even count the number of times i am 'activated' with 1 hand while i was on shift for the whole week.

its seriously, a useless insurance.

its over btw. phew. lemme re-tune my biological cock back.

i'm officially about 2 weeks away from moving out of my parent's place.

finally the piglet is leaving its pig sty and finding a corner of his own on this planet.

mother pig herself also stuck with the red tape that exists within HDB.... i wish her well in the interim house as she stays under the new landlord.

now i need to find a corner to really rest and relax... settle the mind....

i'm having chilli crab for dinner tonight. (yes.. i went to tabao one okie.).

Rice: $1.

$51 dinner + own bike's petrol + my love for my wife (which is priceless btw.) = priceless....

my parent's house is already SOLD.... so hand over will be by Xmas this year!

which leaves me about.... 30 days from today.

not a very long time....really.

My parents has bought a new flat in yishun... downgraded... i am happy for them....
they spent so long of their lives working... finally they are real OWNERS of a roof....

this downgrade actually meant that the house is gonna be fully paid... good for them.

should they NOT move... they will have to slog another 15 years. i'm not really sure then can afford to work another 15 years....

dun be mistaken... i'm not predicting them to pass on within 15 years. lets just say.... working for leisure to pass time... (with a fully paid house).... compared to working to pay for the house.... the former is better for everyone.

anyway. i will be moving to an interim house in the coming months.

details will not be revealed though as details are not firm. (dear friends worry not. i will have a roof).

the dreadful part of it all is actually packing to move.

10 years living here and i have to pack everything in 30 days?

its pretty mixed feeling trip....

on one hand its a country that i want to visit soon.... on the other hand.... i've been pretty busy recently with all the work and reservist shit.... i just wanna REST at home for 2-3 weeks leading normal life.

so i'm neither excited NOR dreading the trip.

just super neutral this time round.

will bring my camcorder instead of my trusty digicam.... (see how lazy i am?).

nope. i wish i was the one promoted.

Lately there has been alot of promotion, increment, conversion, salary review going around in office.

Some end up happy, Others speechless.

I belong to the group that was converted to permanent and therefore i miss out some stuffs.

Nothing to complain really. thats how working is. your-turn-will-come kinda situation.

however what bugs me is the constant comparison of ..

1. salary

3. workload
4. promotion

why compare these things??

true enough human beings are competitive by nature.... but surely theres no need to compare an apple to and orange?

some are worst, they compare the amount of "moisture" in an "orange" to a "dried orange peel"... (if you dun understand my metaphor its okie. just know its a fucked up comparison.)

i've taken this online alias up sometime ago....

it started from the naming of my phones for Bluetooth purpose...

imagine when you're trying to send a file with BT to another person....

you start pairing up your phones... and they ask.... "whats your device name?"

then they realise its literally... "the guy beside you".... USUALLY people will laugh.

some people will say its damn lame... BUT they still laugh.

to me, the 'guy' beside me is not gender specific.... guy = person.

We all need human support from time to time in life... like it or not, we can never live alone.

the older you get, the lesser friends you have.... for various reasons...

1. they leave the country.
2. they passed on (eventually or unfortunatedly).
3. they just had better things to do.

So if you're NOT actively expanding your social circle.... (which most people are likely not to).... you'll find your friends population reducing.

so after reading this.... maybe you want to sit down in a corner....

try to bring child out to play and learn more things.... time not enough... end up come home late.

personally i have an issue with point 4 and 5..... office relationships and how you handle it.

colleagues get attached... everyone naturally feel good for them.... besides... i'm a married man myself.

i know the happiness you can feel when you have a relationship with another person. (not fuck buddy please).

i have something bothering my mind for a while already..... its about work-life balance....

i am a person believe in balancing work and your daily life activities on a daily basis...

not just wait for weekend to happen and then think about family and friends......

i strongly believe that....work cannot be finished.....

its just like writing a report for submission when you're in school.... you write drafts and you keep amending it.

proof read it a few times.... you rewrite for grammar errors.

then you check spelling.... paraphrase... summarize.....

change a few facts.... add in some bombastic words to show your vocabulary depth.

add in citations... quote some famous people... draw references....

then you edit the bibliography... you even amend it... cos you plagiarized some content... so you omit some sources that is too obvious.

when is it ever ending??

my point here is.... work is never ending.... try to finish whatever you can finish... leave the rest for tomorrow.

i know some people do have jobs that are so critical.... if it doesnt get done TODAY. its prolly gonna make the company lose money.

but seriously speaking..... if that piece of document or whatever you're arranging can allow you to work 'overtime' and delay 3-4 hours so that you can SUBMIT.... then i guess its NOT THAT CRITICAL afterall.

let me calculate some stuffs... please follow me.....

1 day = 24 hours.

1. typical human spend 8 hours sleeping. (good for you if you have more!).
2. another 9 hours you spend working. (my office 9 hours lah...)
3. 1.5 hours you use for travelling.... (assuming public transport)
4. 0.5 hours you use to shower throughout the day. (twice a day, 15 mins each)
5. you spend some time watching TV, doing chores, reading.... 1.5 hours perhaps. (dramas easily 45 mins each)
6. you prolly will spend another 1 hour eating dinner.(from cook to eat to wash dishes).

lets tabulate up.... 24 - 8 - 9 - 1.5 - 0.5 - 1.5 - 1 = 2.5 hours left in a day.....

so 2 questions for you all to ponder about.....

1. what that remaining 2.5 hours a day... do you bother to sit and talk to your loved ones / friends??

2. if your answer is 'No' to question 1.... do you still think you want to do that 2 hours overtime at work??... just to finish that piece of work??

(i am trying VERY HARD to type this blog post as a non-soldier.... as a civilian. )

i've doing my 27th year on earth now... started army when i was 19..... had a short career with the mindef thereafter.

there are always stories of inspiritional leaders.... solid kilat commissioned officers in the army.

i left the army.... went on a few jobs.

i realised i still haven found the true leader in any of the jobs i had.

most of my bosses lacked the charisma to influence his subordinates....

the general feeling i get from my bosses is that they are just 'clocking mileage'.... 'passing time'.

the company put you in a leader position.... is not for you to sit there to clock mileage.

a leader's job is to lead..... and once again i reiterate... 'TO LEAD IS TO SERVE'.

its hard to further simply that phrase... (if you're a leader and you dun understand or agree with this statement. i suggest you go punch yourself in the balls.)

seriously.... this lack of inspirational leader is leaving me all dry and jaded about work life.

end of the day.... if you're put in a position where you have people under you.... spend some time... talk to them and get to know them personally.

engage them!

if not you wont even know whats the REAL REASON why your staff tendered his resignation....

being on time is a virtue... a good habit... a good representation of your attitude towards everything.

i speak from experience btw. ... most people do... we all have friends who are late.

late for school... late for gatherings... late for classes... late for dinner.... everything... EXCEPT MOVIES.

that said, i'm not a perfect soul either.

those who known me since the poly days.... i rarely attended classes....

i am either habitually late.... or horrendously late the extent i do not attend classes anymore.

a tutor of mine once said to me this and i still will never forget it.

Tutor: 'Desmond, can you dun be late for my next class??'

Me: 'I am sorry. I woke up late. I will try not to be late for your future classes....'

Tutor: 'good... thats good enough for me. lets get on with class... '

* several weeks passed... his lessons just went on... **....

guess what?

true enough... i am not late for his class.... in fact.... i never got around to attend his class for the whole semester!! (yes... i am that jialat).

so technically speaking.... i am absent.... not late for class...

when i eventually attended his class... it was presentation day....

Tutor: 'Desmond! i finally see you in my class again....and you're on time today...'

Me: 'i guess i still needed to come for presentation right?'

everything is blurry after that.... doesn't matter anymore.... i gave my presentation and got my average C grade.

however, i'm a different person now.

punctuality is my principle... i will try very very hard to either...

1) reach early, or

2) reach on time, or

3) be late for 4 mins 59 secs.

i simply cannot stand it when people are late.

to me, being not on time for appointments is a showcase of your negative attitude towards the person and towards time....

several guidelines for people who are habitually late...

1) its never LUGI to yourself to be EARLY.( basically dun predict everyone will be late!)

2) allocate yourself ample buffer time for your own travelling.

3) for drivers/riders, plan your route!!

4) if you are going to be late, be a man! call to inform!
its better to know you're late then to keep guessing where the fark you are.

5) if you're going to call to inform. DON'T FUCKING LIE. NOBODY WILL EAT YOUR HEART WHEN YOU ARRIVE.

6) wear a watch.

i'm moving house.

for 26 years. i've been under the shelter of my parents.

i kinda got used to living with them... (who isnt anyway?).

now that theres a situation.... i'm the first to leave.

several facts you need to know regarding HDB and CPF BOARD.

1) you may purchase your house from HDB with your CPF funds... if you're 54 years old or below....

2) at 55 years old. your accounts get merged into one big RETIREMENT account....

3) then at 55 years old... the cpf board says... 'fuck no, you cannot use your cpf money unless you have 135k inside'. (my mama's case).

so the situation is my mama is 54 years old turning 55... (yes.. she looks way younger then that age.... i hope she doesnt kill me for revealling her age on the internet. rofl).

anyway. she wants to downgrade to a 3 roomer... just so to be mortgage free in the near future where both her kids have their own houses already...

why would 2 old folks need a 4room flat anyway right?

all the bullshitting... the exaggerated content.... the endless daring stuffs he did... (i dun disagree that i'm one of them... but seriously. i don't bullshit.... i'm 95% genuine when i talk.)

then comes the topic of me... being married at a young-er age.

i hoped you've enjoyed the long weekend as much as i did... though as a family, we didnt really do ALOT of stuffs.
the usual makan trips and stuffs we do at home.

so my question back is always... "whats so bad about staying at home? is it becos theres no love in yours?"

anyway.... after enjoying a long weekend with my own family at home.... i'm beginning to LIKE long weekends.
Maybe the government should considering having an option for employees to top for 4 day work week with reduced salary.... (GIVE AND TAKE LAH).

Immediate Benefits:

1) they get to cut cost.
2) they promote work-life balance (which we're seriously lacking in this era.)

Long Term Benefits:

1) People see the free time and are more willing to set up families.
2) The nation generally becomes less tense and maybe we can enjoy the SWISS style of living sooner.

Where Do We Draw The Line?

Not gonna be anything intelligent.
high possibility of ending abruptly once my writing juices dry up.
it was a lovely sunday. last sunday in fact.
brought lucas to the shopping centre to have lunch.
not exceptionally naughty that day.... just took longer then usual to finish his bowl of noodles.
then jazmin went on to eat her noodles.... while i took the devil for a walk around and took him for a leak.

finally, went past a candy TIKAM machine... didnt slot any coins... so he was pressing and pressing until very happy.
i mean.... you can really see the laughter. hes happy.
you bet i am too.
it was time to leave... he decided not to. made some noise and went to sit at one of the Kiddy RIdes...
jazmin then joined us....

now comes the part on where do we draw the line.... to become nice parents or to be stern and whack the kids.
he refused to get off the kiddy ride!
we grabbed him to some corner... he cried and shouted.
almost ignoring us totally... admittedly. WE LOST CONTROL.... only briefly.

we then pacified him... and got him to walk along.... mistake was to take the route pass the kiddy ride again... (not sure why... but yes. it happened.)
he got up and we dragged him off... he cried again.
we decided to threaten to leave him.... and stood in the crowds about 10M away.
----------------
to our horror... we saw the greatest smile of our dear son.
he was thoroughly enjoying himself on the kiddy ride.
turning the wheel.. laughing.. smiling... chuckling....
pressing the buttons.... chuckling again.

for a while... i felt like a total bastard father.
i cant even spare that few minutes for my own son to sit there and play?
and then think of ways to coax him down?
i had to pull him away?

emotions overwhelmed me. i couldn't think straight.
which i calmed down....
eventually ended the day with my son giving me a kiss on the cheek before he slept.

off the lights and with nothing to see.... the mind worked.
even as i type now, i still regret that few minutes of my life.
so for the enlightened ones.... please tell me..... how and where do i draw the line?

i read on facebook not to be too intelligent with blog posts as it turns people off.
muhaha... oh well... its moreen who commented... definitedly not on me though.
cos i know... i'm a long way from 'posting intelligent blogs'.

okie.... had a Q4 gathering the other day at Seoul Garden... 8 of us went there... ate some stuffs and left 2 hours later.
the food was okie.
the crowd was okie.
the drinks were fine.

horror came when we decided to go home.
ever had that feeling, when you walk out and you discover you smell like shit??
everyone was cursing and swearing at their body smell.. (which was basically BBQ food).
somehow everyone turned to me and go.. " see lah... my whole body smelly".
this kinda went on for 2-3 days... receiving complains on their hair smell, clothes smell, umbrella smell, branded bag smell and even that their spectacles smelt like BBQ food.

which makes me wonder... am i the only person who doesnt have post-seoul-garden odour??

i've completed what i've said i'll do when 2009 started... which is to organise and go for 4 gatherings in 4 different quarters of the year.

i'm a lil tired....
so i'm cancelling this quarterly gathering for 2010... heh heh....

Monday - Public Transport Sucks Day.

business as usual....
however, it was a really weird day....
several things happened....
1) I woke up at 5am.
2) i drank 1 cuppa coffee.
3) i showered.
4) i finished reading the straits time (every article).
5) i went to work.
6) i wore the same colour scheme as my colleague.
7) i left my bike in office after work to meet jazmin at AMK.
8) i waited at the bus stop for about 40 mins.
9) 8 buses passed and none of it mine.
10) i realised i'm the ONLY GUY who doesn't carry a bag at the bus stop.
11) i arrive at AMK Hub from YCK 1 hour later.
12) sat down at S11 and jazmin went to order food.
13) I started eating and 2 guys sat down without asking me if i mind they sat.
14) they started eating and i didnt complain (there werent any seats around).
15) realised i have a lady with me. they moved to another seat.
16) then.... another lady sat with her son... again never ask.
17) i kept quiet still and just chatted with jazmin.
18) went to buy Tip Top curry puff...
19) just nice. zhun zhun, i bought the last 3!
20) took a taxi home, zhun zhun the cab fare was $10.
end of day.
conclusion.... singapore bus service sucks....
and.... LTA should ban everyone who takes a train at PEAK hour to carry a bag.
its a fucking waste of space.
the rules should read....

"NO BAGS ALLOWED WHILE TRAVELLING ON

PUBLIC TRANSPORT DURING PEAK HOURS".

I know I am a singaporean as well.

But that doesnt mean i cannot rant about singaporeans.

It all happened at the ATM while i was queuing up to withdraw some quick cash....

I was like... 8th in line.

Waited and waited.... saw from a far that a couple of people are doing 2 transactions... (or i thought so)... so be patient...

I'm the 3rd in line.... at this stage... i'm still not angry or pissed at the long queue.

I was still thinking it was just-another-day-where-everyone-did-2-transactions.

i became the next in line.

WRONG!

I realised that all 7 person in front of me.... did 2 transaction because....

THE FUCKING MACHINE WAS FAULTY.

and.... NOBODY IN THE QUEUE BEFORE ME TURNED AROUND AND SAID... "the ATM is not working..."

So the whole bunch of us just waited in line for NOTHING.

True enough, we all live up to the name of being uniquely singapore.

1) we enjoy queuing up.
2) We dun speak up when necessary.
3) we speak up when NOT necessary.

I Dislike Army Senior Officers.

come to think of it... if you ask me which army senior officer do i really respect... i would only have AT MOST 4-5 names to offer.

I spent 4.5 years in the army in a couple of places....

Now that i think back, there was nobody truely inspiring...

Now.... to explain why i dislike army senior officers....

senior officers tend to develop a problem as they progressed in rank...

The more crabs they get... the more they lose their basic manners.

They can never ask a simple question POLITELY.

As long as they see a person clad in civilian clothes.... they(senior officers) take their chance to BARK at them to show his fellow comarades his military power.

I Went Back To My Old Job.

Been a while...

i went back and do my old job.... i was called up for reservist.

rested 1.5 years and they caught up with me... 1st ICT... 1st High Key.... tio whack 2 weeks left-right-center.

spent 2 weeks inside... actually reservist is not that bad afterall....

gives you a break off the paper-pushing life... for those who are lucky... they get to meet up with their buddies and lunch with them for 2 solid weeks!!

however when it comes to reality, there are just so many irritating things about ICT that makes everyone hate it.

everything is just so damn cock up with it has to do with the army...

from the bunks we sleep in.... to the food we eat... to the buses we take... and lastly the lack of rubbish bins.

i wouldnt say my ICT sucked.... but alot CAN be approved.

i used to be on the other side of the fence where i gave instructions and guided the NSMen to run their ICT.... come this time i'm the NSMen, i dun feel well taken care of.

super huge information gap here and there.... things just dun run.... we turn around and nobody is there to guide.... pretty irritating IMO.

best part of it is... "pardon me.. i'm really short on manpower.. "

well... in reality... i would have answered.. "Fix your manpower problem... dun let it become MY problem... "

I came up with a simple method... its a pretty easy system...

Basically... just wash your vehicle at your MSCP.

I went down on sat to wash my bike.... took 2 X 20cents coins with me.

I washed my bike with them. spent 40 cents...

THEN... i found 4 X 20 cents on the water vending machine.....

VIOLA... in theory, i made 300% returns just to wash my bike.

You should do it some day. ...

And yes... you heard from me first...

I Hate Public Buses, With Passion.

Last week... i've managed to sell and transferred my bike within 3 days.

Leaving me with no concrete plan to go about buying my next bike or public transport.

So.... i had to take public transport to work.

Just nice... H1N1 had to give us more trouble by becoming community spreading.

As part of Business Continuity Support Plan, we now have to divide our workforce into 2.

Just nice.... i'm the one whos going to the alternate site... (fortunatedly or unfortunatedly.. alternate site is empty).

So i had to take public transport.... for those who followed my WALL MESSAGES on facebook... i presented mixed feelings about public transport.

On certain days, the bus service would promptly arrive within the 10 mins tolerance zone.

on other days, the bus would arrive like 20 mins.... well over the LIMIT.

so today... i shall declare.

I HATE PUBLIC BUSES, WITH PASSION.

Him: Not married.... late 40s.... career minded.

Me: I was 1st year into fatherhood and 25 years of age.

so the conversation went fine.... we were chatting...

Him: "So... hows life being a father?"

Me: "So far so good... coping well with the extra payment and stuffs..."

Him: "thats good.. work hard my friend.... i see that you're quite young. by the time your son is your age, you're barely 50!"

Me: "yeah... just hitting that magical 50. can almost put them on auto pilot mode and i get on with my life for retirement."

Him: "er... wrong young man."

Me: "i dun follow."

Him:"you see... you're his father. it doesnt stop when he hits 21 years old. for that matter, you're his father for life. "

Him:"Being a father is not just patting him to sleep, earning money back to buy the diapers, buying the milk powder, sending him to school. "

Him: "you spend time with him, teach him, groom him, guide him.... "

Him: "when you were 21 years old... did you still take advice from your father and even until now, you still go to him for emotional support?"

Me: "er... yeap.. i guess so.."

for the record, it was the 2nd attempt....

anyway.... just that.... nothing too important.. nothing too insignificant.

But... even though i passed... i'm not significantly delighted.... hahaha...

Korea 2009 - Final Episode.. stale I know..

This korea episode is way way way overdue and stale....

we've reached the end of my tour.

Theres nothing much to see on the last day.

Exhausted souls. Boring Places of interest. Irritating Tour Guide.

* Just a few views outside my hotel room. its a big DRAIN under that bridge... fucking smelly if you open the window. But if you dun open.. its fucking hot in the room... *

* Now you see it... the big drain.. smelly like fark! *

* that was how i looked at the 8th day.. shag out *

* However, Jazmin came to life when visiting this shop.... WOMEN! *

* Typical kimchi making class... didnt have the chance to take photo... *

* Indian spotted in korea *

* Korean police bikes.... pretty solid... harley with side car attached... *

* And they have this river flowing in the middle of their shenton way... *

* People just walk by the sides... enjoying the sounds of water... occassionally sitting around at the steps... pretty cool place *

* Spotted this BMW Bike illegally parked.... had to snap it... $40K machine in singapore... *

Korea 2008 - Everland Themepark (Videos at the end).

Finally found time to write again about my trip.

It has been a month since we returned btw.

Following set is mainly from Everland Theme Park....

its an amazing place really.

Farking freezing though... probably 5 degrees in the open... scary place.

Oh yeah... this is also the day jazmin fell really sick and went to see a doctor....

** Pretty alot of medication to eat.... best part is all korean. dunno wtf we're eating also. **

** they pack their medication nicely for you... very neat. we should have these in singapore. no reason to be lazy and never eat medication! **

Offically in EVERLAND Theme park now.... fantastic place.

Anyway we're close to the tulip season... thus why alot of tulips all around korea.

** the theme is quite big.... so we took a cable car to the other side of the theme park.... **

** oh... i was scared and was shouting... **

** That is the most fierce wooden rollercoaster in the world. (so they claim). 70 degrees vertical drop. never had a chance to take it.. the queue was ULTRA long. **

** Some random kid.... very cute. **

** they do have holland village in Korea too... the lady on top just wouldnt move away... irritating... **

** This is the stage for the night show.... with fireworks! **

** Night fell and then came the MOONLIGHT PARADE.... **

** Very close to our own CHINGAY... but alot nicer... dunno why. **

** Apparently they do this EVERYNIGHT in Everland.... all shops will switch off their lights. even if you're still eating! **

** Night show... where the story of the phoenix and dragon comes alive with alot of pyrotechnics. **

** Dragon on the right... he spits fire! **

** OKie... the ugly phoenix... **

** Ah hah... FIRE FIRE! **

** Ending the show is 10 mins of fireworks..... i have too many photos. just showing a few nia **

Overall, we enjoyed our time at the theme park.

It is a MUST-GO.

We kinda wished we had more time though.... but as usual... you seldom get what you wanted.

Oh yeah... i have 2 more days left of photos in the Kimchi island....

so... enjoy the videos meanwhile...

Korea 2009 - Day 5 & 6.

Day 5 and Half of Day 6...

Conveniently lumped together...

Day 5.... flying to Seoul...

* On board the planes... we had the catalogues.... they sell Lamers in korea for USD 186 buckaroos!! what rubbish is that! *

*Fast forward the day... this happens to be our lunch.... BBQ meat. Nothing to shout about. standard food you can get at Seoul garden locally. *

Upon reaching seoul.... we shifted into a hotel that was beside a ski resort / park...

Thereafter we were brought to a SAUNA house.....

Indoor pools are for those who prefer to go in fully nude....

Outdoor pools are the more family friendly locations..... naturally... tourists went outdoor ones.

Its about 5-9 degrees outside and drizzling.... the hot sauna was realllly realllllyy shiok....

Unfortuntedly. no photos... ;)

Took an hours drive... and went for the ride of my life....

We were then brought to a few boring locations throughout the day....

We all were kinda pissed off with the tour guide by now.... so that probably added on to the boredom.... morever jazmin was still NOT feeling well....

After the BORING hour glass... we were brought to the GUINESS WORLD RECORD Train station.....

* OKIE... try not to shout.... This station holds the GUINESS BOOK OF RECORD for.... BEING THE TRAIN STATION THAT IS NEAREST TO THE BEACH. *

WTF really.....

Lastly.... i would stop halfway of day 6.... we were told we're going to be brought to see a world war something north korea SUBMARINE....

I reached the location and came down the bus... took a smoke..... decided to look around and then decided to ask the tour guide...

Me : "Excuse me... where is the submarine ah?"

Tour Guide: "You are looking at it... "

Me: *jaw open.... cigarette dropped*

Me: "oh... you koreans call this a submarine?????????"

I rest my case.

Home Safety.

A break off from the boring korea trip journal... allow me to share with you something i've been trying to find to improve the home safety...

Ever since my little Lucas can start walking and run about... we have the concern of him knocking into something.

Falling down is part and parcel of growing up..... we understand that.

What concerns me is the unnecessary bloodshed that MIGHT occur in the house.

We have a chest of drawers around... that has a super sharp corner.... i think if i fell straight at it... even MY coconut head will split open and at least 1 litre of blood will spill out.

Introducing the subject:

* Lucas in his new sleeping area... *

Therefore i made a few prototype to shield the drawer corner... eventually went to Daiso and found this.... PERFECT.

Idea is to tape it around the corner to prevent direct KOK the head... (as you can see in the cartoon..)

END PRODUCT.. (seriously could have been nicer... lol).

* One corner nicely covered up.... *

* This is the outer corner that lucase frequently walks pass.... *

There you have it... slightly safer now.....

Korea 2009 - Day 4... Super Great Weather.

I've been busy throughout the week.

Its labour day and i'm 'working' to upload some pictures and content for your viewing....

Tour proper.... Day 4... still on Jeju island.

Itinerary for the day...

1) Marado Island... Southern Most point of Korea.... akin to sentosa. An island not to be missed IMO.

2) Nanta Show.... good show at best. akin to STOMP.

3) TopDong Street shopping....

* Wonderful view of the jetty... very breezy *

* Somehow i just love this kinda views. Even though they look boring on photos.. when you're really there... its just such a solid view... *

* All these people are heading to the jetty... waiting to board the ferry.... its about 40 mins ride i think *

Marado Island.... (Ma Luo Dao)

* Upon reaching the island... the friendly dogs greeted us... running around. *

* Collected our buggy there to roam around... hoh hoh... walking on foot is too tiring... *

* Yeap... its the dog again... sibei cute *

* The island had alot of churches... this one looks like sotong tentacles *

* Check out that endless horizon.... very pretty lady and island view... ;) *

* I had to lie down... it was just too shiok... *

* Last picture we took of Marado Island.... Please dun be mistaken... there are alot more views and lovely stuffs on this island... just that we didnt take photo of it... *

NANTA Show.....

* As mentioned... its a show which is similar to STOMP. Setting is in the kitchen. They use real food as ingredients and they do cook the stuffs in the theater... as we sat and watched... we could smell the food cooking.... If you enjoy noise making show like STOMP... you wouldnt mind watching this. *

* surprise of the show... Jazmin was brought up stage to be part of the show to get married to another guy.... MUHAHAA.... *

Because we cannot record nor take photos... that is the ONLY shot of the show we have.... =)

Meal Time... sashimi... which caused 5 to lao sai.

* I've tried all ways to rotate this photo but it just uploads as potrait... stupid blogspot.... *

Hotel.... again!

New hotel again.... we shifted to this hotel because it was nearer to airport....

Named Jeju Neighbourhood Hotel... (or something like that... facilities are adequate...)

* They like to put teddy bears all around... dunno why also. *

* The shower had a glass door which is next to useless.... all the water still sprayed out to everywhere in the toilet... dumb ass design. *

Kinda addicted to this noodles.... dry and spicy...

Ended the day again with it.... never to be found in singapore... sad case.

In summary..... Day 4 went well. Marado Island was refreshing but it also ate up half a day. Nanta show was only just GOOD.

Downside of the day would be the Sashimi meal.... none of us felt full after the meal and it definitedly isnt suitable for kids and older people to have such kinda meals.

5-6 ladies eventually fell ill after consuming this meal.... Vomitted and Lao sai for the rest of the tour.....

Unfortunatedly... Jazmin was one of them.... One lady had to be brought to hospital and put on IV Drip....

Korea 2009 - Day 3 RAINING!

Decided to split up Day 3 and 4.... reason being Day 3 is ultra lacking in photos to speak of any experience.

Day 4 is too long for me to combine!

haha... just take it as i'm lazy.

My buddy Jonathan was pushing me to post the rest of the pics up a.s.a.p.... he finds the pics from my last post to be rather bland and boring. He wants to see the CITY...

Maybe as you are reading.... you share the same sentiments.

Allow me to explain... Day 1 and 2 was mostly traveling to Seoul and Transit to Jeju... because theres a 6 hours time void for connecting flights... they brought us to some 'filler places' to keep us occupied...

Jeju is a boring island... with more mountains and wind then colourful signboards and places...

thats the fact.....

which is why i said in my previous post... Jeju island is.. OVERRATED.

Okie... back to Day 3... it was pretty much a rainy day in the 2nd half... which explains the lack of photos....

As usual... photos will start from breakfast....

You know... we paid quite an amount for the trip... and this is the food we're served for breakfast!

they even fucking dare to tell me... the speciality of this breakfast is the Jeju Orange Jam to apply on the bread.

I dunno... you guys decide if its worth it.

Next... some site which i forgot its name.

Apparently some shows were filmed here... not a korean drama fan....

the only show i watch was "Full House".....

* this is some rocky coast that we see... its very cliffy. ** I'm not a geography tour... but the reason why the stones are mostly black is becos jeju is a volcanic island.... hence the black stones all around my photos *

* and finally.... we had to take a few photos with us inside... it was tough posing with stones *

* Throughout jeju island... you'll see these rock walls. they are all hand stacked and kinda serve as a low fence. Even houses are fenced out with these rock walls... very interesting. Extremely tempted to pluck one out and see if they fall... *

Next... rain sets in.... photos get lesser and boring...

Visit to Seongeup Folk Village.

This is a pretty cool village with nice history.

Jeju island has 3 things in abdundance.

1) Mountains. (alot of mountains)
2) Wind.... (freaking windy everywhere you go)
3) Women... (lucky guys).

So the culture is.. 1 man can marry 4 women. (i'm not freaking kidding!).

Man only need to stay at home.... wait for wife(s) to work and feed them.....

Korea government has marked this place as national preservation zone... and the people are included.

However, with the society modernising, these villages are diminishing.

In order to preserve the heritage of this villages.... people living in these villages are.... INCOME TAX FREE.... AND.... the gov will help them to promote the villages as tourist attractions to sell their products.

Sibei solid government.

* This lady claims she acted in "Da Chang Jin" as an important extra.... oh btw... left bottom corner are the products they sell... mainly Honey. *

COst about 35000 won per bottle... pretty ex but heck it...

It was raining... i believe this is Songsan Sunrise Peak.

There is a small path leading up... if you see the picture carefully.

20 mins up and down.... didnt see the need to do it... quite boring.

Included in our trip was Go-Kart....

I've never tried go-kart in my life.

Even though it was raining and about 5 degrees... i was not gonna miss this part.

We opted for a 2 person kart... pretty fun and COLD.

decided to stop once my fingers lost all feeling.... rofl..

Unfortunatedly... no more memories of the ride as it was raining.

Dinner..... assam cat fish...

who the hell eats cat fish seriously.....

Salty like hell. not very nice.

Also a meal of controvesy.

One of our members feedback to the tour leader that it was really too salty for consumption.

Our tour guide was eventually notified.... didnt really say anything until 1 day later....

Tour Guide: I received some feedback about the dinner last night.

Tour Guide: When you guys are in korea... you all need to learn to adapt to korea's style of eating and the food taste.

Tour Guide: The fish is for you to eat... but the soup is not for you to drink!!! So don't complain about soup is too salty (ala the zhang zi yi visa advertisement).

My immediate reaction in the brain was.... "SMLJ.... you put the stuffs on the table but fucking hell the soup cannot drink. You gotta be kidding me..."

But eventualy... we just let it go since the meal was alreayd over....

Log that as complain number 4.

In the end... had to buy noodles and some fried fish to eat...

This noodle is GOOD... 10 points for spicyness.

You will NOT find anything as spicy in singapore.

Hotel was the same old lousy Shilla.... munched the fried fish skin on top...

thats about it....

Summary: Meals was bad, Tour guide pissed me off. Places of visit is not that exciting but fine by my standards. I do enjoy spending time looking at boring sea and blowing the cold wind.
